  Job Description:

1. Program Planning and Implementation:

  • Prepare the annual detailed implementation plan and guidelines as per project proposal and contract between NMBS and Horyzon.
  • Support and ensure the implementation of planned activities according to the project implementation plan.
  • Assist project staff for technical gaps in activity implementation at targeted communities at project location.
  • Ensure quality delivery of each activity considering value for money (effectiveness, equity, efficiency and economic) implemented through project staff.
  • Facilitate and coordinate for learner centred leadership training of trainers (ToT) designing, implementation and follow-up monitoring in alignment with the project proposal.
  • Develop clear criteria and procedural frameworks to identify and select targeted beneficiaries- young women and girls for the project.

2. Coordination and Capacity Building:

  • Maintain coordination with likeminded organizations and local government to bring synergy and advocacy on the social issues- SRHR, gender equality, human right, economic empowerment and prevention of gender-based violence.  
  • Lead to organize and share progress of the project and plan at municipal project advisory committee as compliances of the Social Welfare Council (SWC).
  • Maintain effective working relationships with local government, ward committee, government agencies and stakeholders to create an enabling environment for project implementation at the local, regional, national and global level.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and backstopping support to project staffs and young women leaders and explore opportunities to build staff's capacity.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other NMBS led projects for synergy effects and harmony creation.

3. Monitoring, Documentation and Reporting:

  • Conduct regular field visits for monitoring, documentation and reporting of the project progress, learning and challenges faced by staffs and project.
  • Assist to maintain project database, document case studies and good practices and prepare periodic reports as per contract with Horyzon.
  • Organize and facilitate joint monitoring with Municipal Project Advisory Committee (MPAC) and SWC monitoring visit in the project location.
  • Share learning, best practices and experiences at appropriate forums and media including social media.

4. Financial and Compliance Management

  • Prepare financial forecast based on detail implementation plan, expenses summary and reporting to NMBS and Horyzon.
  • Proper use of project resources and finances with ensuring value for money and be responsible for to ensuring proper governance and accountability.
  • Support the team in NMBS to meet organizational, donors and GoN compliances as required for the project as per its agreement with Horyzon, SWC, local government and any other relevant agencies.

5.  Leadership and Innovation

  • Take overall leadership of the EmpowHER project in collaboration with the entire NMBS team.
  • Represent EmpowHER project at relevant forums at local, provincial and federal level in coordination and communication with NMBS management and leadership.
  • Initiate new innovative ideas for project effectiveness, sustainability, development linkages for synergetic effects and encourage project staff to innovate new approaches to achieve extra-ordinary results.  
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Project Cycle Management (project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) more specifically focused to leadership regarding sexual and reproductive health right leadership, gender equality, human rights, economic empowerment projects from an I/NGO.
  • Experience in leadership regarding sexual and reproductive health right leadership, Gender Equality, Human Rights, Economic Empowerment and advocacy against gender-based violence
  • Experience in working with young women and girls, knowledge on social mobilization and empowerment and equipped with training facilitation and advocacy skills
  • Good understanding on SRH, gender equality, human rights and gender-based violence context of the country and local communities
  • Strong knowledge and facilitation skills in training design and delivery related them
  • Managing work and social relations:

  • Good analytical, communication, influencing and negotiation skills and ability to think strategically

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office -Word, Excel, Power point etc.
  • A clear understanding of contemporary development issues particularly on poverty, gender equality and social inclusion, livelihoods, human rights  and situation of the Nepali women
  • Knowledge on safe and effective development approaches (do no harm)
  • Aware of grassroots level situation of the Nepali society
  • Knowledge of policies and legal frameworks- SRHR, human rights, gender equality (Local, Provincial and federal government)
Education + Experience

A Master's Degree in Humanities and Social Science.
