  Job Description:

A: Operation of the Secretariat:
The Secretariat Coordination Officer will be responsible for:

  • Providing managerial leadership to the CWISAN Secretariat, managing, and supporting the day-to-day activities and resources of the Secretariat.
  •  Provide special emphasis on coordination and networking, management, and mobilization of resources.
  • Lead the CWISAN Secretariat in full function with the general planning and coordination of the CWISAN meetings and activities.
  • Organize CWISAN meetings on a regular basis and facilitation of the meetings and workshops and required coordination and collaboration for collective impacts and synergies.
  • Prepare the minutes and share them with all members after approval from the supervisor. Preparation of an annual work plan and annual report along with required documentation.
  • Facilitate effective communication between partners, keeping them updated on upcoming events for the Alliance.

B: Developing Communications and Branding Strategies:
Develop comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with the Alliance's objectives, ensuring
a consistent and compelling narrative.

  • Develop the Alliance’s branding strategy that will enable the Alliance to position itself as a leading collaborative in the sector.

  • Lead and coordinate branding and communications projects for the Alliance, ensuring that all initiatives are executed effectively and efficiently in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

C: Advocacy through media:
Conduct advocacy activities that align with the Alliance’s objectives through various media channels,
including social media, digital & print media, email, and website and enhance the Alliance’s visibility
and impact.

  • Inform the Government about what really causes or contributes to public health and development issues and educate them about the concept of Inclusive Sanitation through various media including social media to bring policy changes.
  • Recast unsafe management of sanitation as public health concerns that affect everyone, not just individuals. Engage the media to help frame it as everyone’s problem, and Inclusive managed sanitation is for all.
  • Maintain CWISAN social media platforms (WEB sites, Facebook. YouTube, and others) for updated information

D: Regional Coordination:
The Coordination Officer will be responsible for enhancing cross learning at the regional level,
through this platform. The Coordination Officer will engage partners in learning and sharing in a
systematic, strategic, and streamlined manner, to ensure that we collectively achieve our goals, and
showcase the region as a champion working towards inclusive sanitation. The Coordination Officer
will document regional, amplify, and disseminate.
E: Knowledge Management:
Establish a knowledge repository at the secretariat to:

  • Systematically capture, organize, and categorize knowledge-based information.
  • Engage with Regional Partners, Alliance members, partners, and key stakeholders to gather information, stories, and insights to support effective communication.
  • Build and manage engagements with external agencies and vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality branding and communication services.

F: Project support
The Secretariat Coordination Officer is also expected to support the CWIS project activities that is
attributing to the CWISAN as well as the sector:

  •  Support for acquiring municipal data for the alignment to the NWASH MIS
  •  Support mechanisms for national policy influence
  • Support national partnerships to advance safely managed sanitation through CWIS approach
  • Support mechanisms to advance CWIS at the municipal levels
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

PROFESSIONALISM:
Knowledge and understanding of sustainable development theories, concepts, and approaches.
Ability to prepare Reports. Ability to prepare communications plans and undertake building brand of
CWISAN. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and

demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed. decision, even when
such decisions may not entirely reflect own position; shares credit for team accomplishments and
accepts joint responsibility for team shortcomings.

Education + Experience
  • Master’s degree in a field related to communication and management or equivalent degree.
  •  At least 5 years of experience for Master’s degree and knowledge of
    working with government, especially with municipalities, is an
    advantage.
  • Familiar with functional and operational aspects of local authorities.
  • Experience on Inclusive Sanitation.
  • Relevant experience in branding and digital media in a strategic
    communications role.
  • Strong partners/stakeholders’ management skills, including strategy
    development, relationship management, negotiation, and
    performance evaluation.
  • Work experience in the water and sanitation sector with an
    understanding of the specific needs and conditions for the delivery of
    water and sanitation services to low-income areas and slums or a
    related area is desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management abilities, including the ability to
    build and maintain strong relationships with partners and other
    stakeholders.
  • Good editing and writing skills with a keen eye for detail and
    accuracy.
  • Familiarity with branding, and digital and other media strategies
  • Previous experience in the Federal, Provincial, and Local governments
    is desirable but not necessary.
  • Able to organize workshops and meeting at national level
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience required, preferably in Coordination
    and Communication
  • Excellent command of both English and Nepali; good report writing
    skills.
    NOTE: "fluency equals a rating of "fluent" in all four areas (read, write,
    speak, understand)

  • Good working knowledge of computer programmes including MS
    Word, Excel, and Power Point
